Ball Transfer Table Selection Guide

Ball Transfer Tables

Ball transfer units are used where product must change direction or at an intersection of two conveyors. Table assemblies are designed to match up with 1.9" diameter roller conveyor frames. If you have an existing conveyor, the drop-in insert plate design allows for the removal of rollers and ball assembly insert plates to be "dropped-in" and bolted. This applies to our 1.9" and 1-3/8" roller conveyors. For ball transfer insert assemblies, please click here.

The omni-directional design of ball transfers allow packages and product to rotate and easily change direction. These are ideal for free movement of tools, dies, fixtures, containers, and assemblies. They are best used where smooth-surfaced items must change direction such as the intersection of two conveyors. Applications include sorting tables, cargo decks, feed tables for metal working, die and fixture handing and storage, and assembly lines.

Ball Transfer Table Model Summary

We have many combinations of lengths, widths, and ball transfer centers that are described by their short description. Refer to the model below to see how we abbreviate our ball transfer tables.

Frame

Our ball transfer tables are constructed with a 3-1/2" x 1-3/8" x 11ga. painted steel channel with butt plate couplers. This frame is the same construction used in our 10F conveyors with 1.9" rollers.

Insert Plates

Insert plates are bolted into the frame of the table and hold the ball transfer units in a specific arrangement. These plates are 6" x 1" x 12 ga. galvanized steel with ball holes punched on 1" centers. These empty insert plates can be purchased separately as well. To learn more about our insert plates, take a look at the Ball Transfer Insert Selection Guide.

Ball Assemblies

Our ball transfer tables come standard with 1" diameter steel balls with a 1-3/4" diameter steel housing and a 1/4-20 center post mount. These ball transfers are arranged in the insert plates depending on the required centers of your application and bolted from below. Additional ball transfer units can also be purchased separately to add to or replace an existing system.

Ball Transfer Centers

Much like a skatewheel conveyor, our ball transfer tables requires at least 5 balls under your product at all times to ensure the product will move efficiently along your table. Ball transfer centers options range from 2" to 6". If your products have large flat bottoms, the ball transfers can have wider centers with less units. If your products have smaller flat bottoms, closer centers and more ball transfer units under the product is required for the items to move smoothly.

Supports

Our ball tables do not come with the supports. Supports come in different styles and heights. It is possible to use our ball tables without supports and lay them directly on a flat, even surface. When pairing your table with supports, you will need to match the between frame dimensions (except for low profile supports). To learn how to select the correct supports for your table click here.

Replacement Parts

Our ball transfer tables are constructed with insert plates and ball transfer units. Both of these items can be purchased separately and used to replace damaged units or add to existing systems. You can find more about our insert plates in our Ball Transfer Insert Selection Guide.

Alternate stud style ball transfer units can be used in place of the standard unit that comes with the table. Material options include carbon steel, nylon, and stainless steel. All ball transfers are sealed and lubricated for a long life (except nylon ball) and the carbon steel is zinc plated. Take a look at the description below to see how we abbreviate our ball transfer units.
